It would be hard to think of a more inapt name for this beautiful nature preserve  -- one of the nicest places to hike in Morris County.  It is anything but "dismal"!  You can stroll along a cascading brook for over a mile and climb to an unusually shaped boulder.

This park, acquired in 1967 through the generosity of residents and with the assistance of the New Jersey Conservation Foundation, was the first natural area to be established in Mendham Township.
