Hither Hills State Park
Park Overview:
A multi-use park offering the hiker stunning water views from beaches and bluffs with trails and sand roads passing through woodlands filled with Russian olive, oak, shad and pine trees
Park Description:
Located just shy of the eastern tip of Long Island along South Fork, Hither Hills State Park offers trails and packed sand roads among pitch pines and stunted oaks, mountain laurel tunnels and hilly woods, a scenic pond, a canyon and stunning water views from beach level and bluff level. The unique "walking dunes" of Napeague Harbor are located on the eastern boundary of the park.
Adjacent to the State Park is Hither Woods, a preserve of 1,340 acres, thus making a combined total of over 3,000 parkland acres.
Trails Overview:
An 11.3-mile segment (Part 11) of Long Island’s 125-mile Paumanok Path passes through Hither Hills State Park and Hither Woods Preserve, primarily along the bluffs facing Napeague Bay.
