Schuyler and Stephen Rowe Bradley, Sr. Town Parks
Park Overview:
Two contiguous natural areas on the Palisades ridgeline.
Park Description:
These two Orangetown town parks are strategically adjacent to Blauvelt State Park on the south, Buttermilk Falls County Park towards the west and Sean Hunter Ryan Memorial County Park toward the east.
Stephen Rowe Bradley, Sr. Town Park is named after its benefactor who expressed his intent to donate 212 acres of land to the Palisades Interstate Park Commission. His wish was implemented after his death in 1910 to become what is now Blauvelt State Park. Some 90 years later Mary Bradley Blake, his granddaughter, made available 40 additional acres for open space acquisition. That acreage today is Stephen Rowe Bradley, Sr. Town Park.
Trails Overview:
With a single trail through them (blazed white), these two parks facilitate loop hikes in the area. Use the Web Map link on this site to view trails in the adjacent parks -- some parks also include links to detailed descriptions of hikes.
The white trail reaches the Long Path in Sean Hunter Ryan Memorial County Park; and at the south end of the park, where the white trail is close to Bradley Hill Road, a red trail continues through Blauvelt State Park to the LP on the Palisades. See the Long Path, Section 2, for further details.
