Appalachian Trail Corridor Manager

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring to ATC and NPS that the club fulfills its corridor monitoring duties.

  • Working with the Trail Conference Volunteer Engagement Team and Local Trail Chair on recruiting and training volunteers to serve as corridor monitors.

  • Dividing the club’s corridor into reasonably sized monitoring sections.

  • Determining the frequency for each section to be monitored.

  • Coordinating follow-up on any encroachments or other corridor related problems.

  • Communication with corridor monitors about any Trail Conference updates including reporting deadlines.

  • Utilizing the ATC app for checking monuments and boundaries

Training

  • Read the AT Corridor Stewardship Field Book by ATC

  • Attend a Corridor Monitoring workshop

  • Informal training by other Corridor Managers

Time Commitment: 
80 hours per year, Spring through Fall
